2008 PBR Troy Dunn International
Townsville, QLD, 23 & 31 May 2008

Dainty Consolidated Entertainment launched the Professional Bull Riders Australia Pty Ltd on 25 & 26 May 2007 in Townsville by way of staging the Jupiters Townsville PBR Troy Dunn International.

One year later, the same event has revisited its site of origin with a performance that was a true testament to the longevity of this annual occasion. With local sponsors running the gamut and a community largely inhabited by bull riding fans, the pace was set for a monumental return. Fans flooded the Townsville Entertainment Center for two nights of extreme bull riding combat.

The City of Townsville has twice played host to the PBR Troy Dunn International and they have demonstrated exceptional commitment and enthusiasm in delivering “the one and only P-B-R!” to their community.

Over the two nights of relentless competition, over 9,000 fans erupted in a fusion of intense pyrotechnics, heart-pounding music and a heated display of bovine combat. There was not a seat in the house immune to the electric atmosphere and elaborate display of entertainment.

“First Blood Friday” consisted of two teams comprised of ten internationals competing against ten of Australia’s best in a format entitled Australia vs The Rest of The World (ROW). Each of the 20 men rode twice with the combined scores tallied to determine the victors.

On Saturday night, 30 Australian riders plus the ten internationals competed in an individual-format where each of the 40 rode once in the first round, with the top ten progressing to the Championship round. The highest scorer took the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Troy Dunn International title.

Our resident bull riding wonders showcased their tremendous ability while performing against these premier athletes. They delivered an intense competition and entertained their fans with all the talent and heart of the homegrown heroes that they have come to be.

PBR Brendon Clark Invitational
Newcastle, NSW, 30 & 31 May 2008

PBR Australia’s premier addition this past season has been the launch of the namesake invitational of our resident prodigy, better known as the “Australian Sensation” internationally, Brendon Clark. The 27 year old Morpeth native has become a diplomat in creating opportunities for up and coming Australian bull riders and the PBR Brendon Clark Invitational is one way that he is contributing to their opportunities.

“What’s important,” he said when asked about the named event, “is having the PBR in Australia now. What this means to the future of bull riding in Australia is massive and I’m really proud to be a part of that.”

Cup events like the PBR Brendon Clark Invitational generate international points for Australian riders that they would normally have to travel overseas to earn. Cup events also signify big money, another atypical trait of Australia’s past bull riding industry. However, PBR Australia has taken great strides in the past year to build our organization to the standard of our US conglomerate. The successful inauguration of the PBR Brendon Clark Invitational is a solid illustration of our ambition, as well as our expectations.

Over 8,000 Newcastle fans were exposed to the PBR thrill ride as they witnessed a whole new level of bull riding entertainment. The venue quaked with loud music, pyrotechnics and screaming fans as they looked on to the intense competition unfolding before them.

Kicking off the competition was “First Blood Friday,” consisting of two teams comprised of ten internationals competing against ten of Australia’s best in a format entitled Australia vs The Rest of The World (ROW). Each of the 20 men rode twice with the combined scores tallied to determine the victors. While the Aussies came just short of overtaking the invading internationals, Brendon Clark, himself, claimed top individuals honors by demonstrating unparalleled for the home crowd.

On Saturday night, 30 Australian riders and internationals competed in an individual-format where each of the 40 rode once in the first round, with the top ten progressing to the Championship round. Good friend and fellow Australian, Pete Farley, claimed title to his mates inaugural PBR Brendon Clark Invitational with older brother, Jared, hot on his heels in 2nd place.

We were proud of the performance and display of athleticism that the Aussie riders showcased throughout this inaugural event. It was a true testament to the future that lies within their talents and it is the mission of PBR Australia to provide them with ample opportunity to utilize those talents, by performing right here at home.
